| Seminar on The Secrets for Professional
Purchasers on 21 August 2010 Dear Members, The seminar on The Secrets for Professional Purchasers organized by IVE Kwai Chung supported by IPSHK was successfully completed on 21 August 2010 in Kwai Chung Campus. Our Vice-Chairman, Mr. David Lee, kicked off the seminar by delivering "Purchasing & Supply 334". He applied the belief and concept of Confucius and Mencius to the purchasing and supply discipline. David's eye-open presentation was followed by Mr. Joe Lee, Principal Corruption Prevention Officer of ICAC who elaborated the grey and sensitive areas that led to potential bribery and corruption risk. He received most of the challenging questions from the floor. The seminar was well organized and inspiring too.

Tour to Group Sense Ltd. on 28 July 2010 Dear Members, On 28 July 2010, Wednesday, the bad weather did not stop our enthusiastic IPSHK members visiting the production plant of Group Sense Limited located at Chang An, Dongguan. A group of 30 members departed at Futian Immigration Hall in the morning. Due to heavy rain and traffic jam, our coach arrived a bit late at 11:30 a.m. Our group was greeted in the exhibition room where history of Group Sense was introduced. Furthermore, we had an opportunity to watch the world's first handheld English-Chinese electronic dictionary under the brand name "Instant-Dict". The group was then split into two teams escorted by their production managers, Mr. Brian Lee and Mr. Eddie Kwan. Three manufacturing processes, Surface Mount Transcription (SMT), Anisotropic Conductive Film (ACF) and Injection were briefed. We could see how the different parts and components were assembled and bonded under class 10K cleanroom. We were all impressed by the factory with vertically integrated manufacturing process in one location covering plastic injection, silkscreen printing, IC wire-bonding, ACF for LCD Module, casing and In-mould Transcription (IMT), etc. The tour was concluded in the conference room where Ms. May Wong, Chairlady of our Public Relations Committee IPSHK, senior staff of Group Sense Ltd. presented the Company and product profile to us. After the visit, the group was then conveyed to the nearby Wu Sha Hotel where we enjoyed a late lunch. See you all in the next IPSHK activity. |

Annual General Meeting, Seminar cum Annual Dinner on 29 May 2010
Dear Members, The rainy day on Saturday 29 May did not stop 80 audiences or members joining the AGM Seminar, Rightsourcing – Impact on Global Sourcing Strategy. The turn up rate was encouraging. In spite of the rush notice, the participation was beyond expectation. Rocky Yu of GS1, one of very few Chinese speaking certified SCOR (Supply Chain Operations Reference) trainers in the world, kicked off the seminar by showing how SCOR model could enhance global supply chain efficiency. It was followed by Mrs. Cassandra Chui, Controller (Procurement) of Government Logistics Department, who demonstrated the impartial public procurement system of Hong Kong. The problems and solutions of global sourcing were addressed. After the Annual General Meeting, some 50 members and VIPs gathered at Regal Riverside Hotel for Annual Dinner. As usual, more than two-third of the participants were loaded with presents from the lucky draw. We like to thank the Institute of Supply Management (ISM Hong Kong Chapter), Hong Kong Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (HKCIPS), Hong Kong Logistics Association (HKLA), and Amway for their generous sponsorship for the lucky draw items. Our special thanks go to IVE Shatin especially to Ms Grace Tsang for her arrangement of the comfortable seminar facility and the assistance of the student ambassadors.
